In 2023, organizations worldwide faced over $549 million in penalties due to non-compliance issues, and 353 million individuals fell victim to security breaches. Enterprises are also dealing with network or bandwidth challenges, with approximately 31% reporting performance issues. To tackle these industry-wide problems, Zoom has introduced a series of enterprise offerings designed to improve business resilience and regulatory adherence. These offerings aim to make compliance easier and ensure business continuity, allowing organizations to better manage their communication needs.
Zoom Compliance Manager Plus
Zoom Compliance Manager (ZCM), initially launched in March, provides a suite of features, including archiving, eDiscovery, and legal hold functionalities to protect corporate communications. Powered by Theta Lake, ZCM aims to support enterprises in addressing their compliance requirements by providing a strong information protection platform. The newly upgraded version, Compliance Manager Plus, builds on this foundation with risk detection and data loss prevention capabilities. This enables organizations to better detect potential compliance risks and implement effective data protection strategies. With features such as trends analysis, Zoom Compliance Manager Plus assists in both regulatory obligations and also manages communications compliance risks across a range of industries, such as those needing to adhere to HIPAA privacy rules.
Zoom Meeting Survivability
Network disruptions, whether due to natural disasters, service outages, or other unforeseen events, are a high risk to business continuity. Zoom introduces its Meeting Survivability feature to fight this, offering network redundancy. This solution enables businesses to maintain communication even during disruptions, thanks to the deployment of Zoom Node, a central hub for hosting workloads locally. When internet outages occur, meetings are automatically rerouted to local servers, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing business operations. This failover mechanism keeps meetings running smoothly, providing users with uninterrupted access to Zoom’s communication tools, even in challenging network conditions.
Zoom Mesh for Meetings
In scenarios where network capacity is constrained, maintaining reliable connectivity can be a challenge for enterprises. Zoom Mesh for Meetings addresses this issue by optimizing bandwidth usage, a feature that was previously available for Webinars and Events but has now been extended to Zoom Meetings. By efficiently distributing bandwidth consumption across a network, Zoom Mesh allows organizations to save up to 60% on internet costs while maintaining high-quality user experiences. This technology ensures that users encounter minimal disruptions during meetings, even in bandwidth-limited environments. This advancement improves the operational efficiency of enterprises, allowing them to maintain communication standards regardless of their network conditions.
Zoom Customer Managed Key (CMK) Hybrid
As data privacy continues to be a key concern for enterprises, Zoom has strengthened its encryption options with the introduction of Customer Managed Key (CMK) Hybrid. This feature grants enterprises greater control over their encryption keys, offering the ability to manage encryption and decryption processes on-premises. This approach ensures that sensitive data is securely encrypted locally, reducing reliance on third-party key management. While only available for Zoom Team Chat from Q4 2024, the CMK Hybrid will eventually extend to other Zoom Workplace functionalities, changing data control and security for businesses. This feature addresses privacy compliance and data protection needs, allowing enterprises to better manage their information and maintain adherence to regional and industry-specific regulations.
Zoom’s new features are designed to help large companies and regulated sectors get the support they need from an enterprise-focused platform, in industries such as finance, healthcare, and government.
